Brave but not brazen; honest but not brutal; familiar but not outdated, Zarni is an upcoming artist originally from South Africa that immigrated to the small town of Johnson City New York at age nine.
For those who like quirky, but not too quirky…Zarni’s music is the perfect blend of unexpected yet universal. Full-bodied piano parts support her memorable melodies and to the point, conversational lyrics.
In the past, fans and friends have seen Zarni in anything from noisy bars to intimate performance halls and whether solo or with a band, this singer/songwriter isn’t afraid to tear it up. Several showcases include WSKG TV, NewsChannel34, Winchester Community TV and the Steve Katsos show. Popular venues (The Bitter End, Endicott Performing Arts Center, The Binghamton Jazz Festival, Seven Seas in Cyprus, the Tanz Café in South Africa, the High Dive and the Showbox in Seattle) from coast to coast have showcased Zarni (with a couple dozen other unique venues in between). The young artist has also shared the stage with The Presidents of the United States of America, Anberlin, Stars in Stereo, Mary Lambert (of Macklemore) and Nikolas Metaxas. For two years Zarni was the only female Dueling Pianist in Seattle, at Keys on Main Dueling Piano Bar and thanks to that experience, she now has a repertoire that can span up to 4 hours.
